Caulking is one of the most important yet often overlooked forms of home maintenance. Caulk seals gaps and joints around windows, doors, tubs, sinks, and exterior siding to prevent moisture and air leaks.

Over time, however, caulking can deteriorate due to temperature changes, moisture exposure, and normal wear. When caulk begins to crack, shrink, or pull away from surfaces, it can no longer provide an effective seal.

Signs that caulking should be replaced include visible cracks, mold or mildew growth, or gaps between surfaces.

Replacing old caulk helps prevent water damage, improves energy efficiency, and keeps surfaces looking clean and well maintained.

Routine inspection of caulking around the home can help prevent costly repairs by addressing small issues before they become larger problems.

Minnetonka Home Services provides professional caulking and sealing services to help protect homes from moisture and air leaks.
